I've purchased my new Ford Escape Hybrid from Galpin in November '07
The optional components I chose for the car included a radio with 6-CD in dash changer, plus mp3 and satellite capable, I paid for everything on that list and was assured by the salesman the car has everything I ordered.
When I arrived to pick the car up they gave me the checklist of what I'm getting, for which I should sign.
The checklist didnt specify any details for the components, it listed things such as "radio" and "roof rack"
All of the things on the list were in place, so I signed for it.
I was so happy to have the satellite radio with over 100 channels for the first time in my life I didn't even try the CD
player for half year. When I first attempted to use it I couldn't get more than 1 CD into the dash board for some reason.
I though i just didn't know how to work it and was using 1 CD only. One day, another few months later i got fed up
with using 1 CD, given the fact I bought a good radio with 6-CD in dash changer, and I went to Car Audio Heaven to
ask them to teach me how to work my CD changer. Imagine my surpise, when after they examined the radio in my car
they told me I don't have no CD changer and only a simple 1 CD player.
I called Galpin immidiately (January '09) and after they put me on hold several times they said they need to pull my
records from the computer and will call me when they do. They called the next day and said there is no record of a
radio with in-dash changer on my account or me paying for it, and that I've also signed the paperwork that I've
received everything I ordered. I told them I still have the copy of that checklist and it only says "car radio" without
any details, and since there was a radio in the car and a working satellite (that I did check) I did not think of bringing
several cds with me to test the CD changer, when I arrived to pick up new car. I told them I still have the original
copy of my selections from the website for the things I ordered and I was assured by the salesman the car I received
has everything on that list.
I was told "look, it's been over a year, why did you call just now? You must have canceled the radio with the changer - many people do that, because when these optional components add up money gets tight for many people". I told the rep on the phone I did no such thing, I paid for *all* my selections on that list and was assured by the salesman everything on the list is in the car, but that didn't matter. They refused to fix the error and
replace the radio and I got cheated of my money and my purchase. I told them I'll go to court with this and they said
"OK, have your lawyer contact our lawyer".
