Variious vexations

Robert of Northbrook IL (1/15/04):
I have a 1994 Buick Regal in white color that was recalled due to a paint defect. Back around June of 1999 the paint started peeling off the trunk. I saw the way it was coming off and suspected a paint defect. I looked it up on the internet and saw that there was a recall. I brought it in to Buick and was told I was too late for the recall. I should have brought it in earlier. It wasn't peeling then.

The trunk cost me $300 to fix. Just last year the paint on the hood started pealing off and then it started to peal on the roof of the car as well. There were two 8-inch circles of paint peeling. While walking to the car the other day I noticed the whole roof was peeling off in sheets about the size of basketballs. By the end of the day the wind had lifted all the paint off the roof and much of the hood.

Needless to say I wasn't going to drive the car looking like this so I brought it to the body shop to get painted. This was a cost of $1000 for the hood and roof. What's a recall for if they are not going to honor it.

Richard of Babylon NY (3/3/03):
I have a 1994 Buick Regal. The paint on the roof has come off. This took a week to happen. The paint peeled off in large sheets. I had a similar problem with the trunk lid about 3 years ago and I had it repainted. This seems to me to be a defect in the paint system.

Constance of State College PA (5/17/02):
My 1996 Buick Regal sedan has huge pieces of paint falling off of the primer coating. I heard through an auto mechanic friend that GM had bad primer during the time that my car was manufactured. I went to the GM site and registered my vehicle and keep receiving an internal error message when trying to view the recall information for my vehicle. I find this a bit odd since all of the other site menu options work without any problem!

My only inconvience appears to be the lack of funds to investigate or repair this rather large problem. I am currently a student at Penn State Univ, a single mother of three young daughters, and working for not much above minimum wage. I would just like to know if GM is responsible for the repair of my obviously faulty paint job?!

Once the warranty expires, there's not much hope of getting any help from the manufacturer, unfortunately.
