This company put inferior parts on my vehicle resulting in damage to my rotors and brakes. I have been advised that since I am no longer in Texas they will not honor the warranty. During my correspondence with Marc L with Brake Check I stated clearly what I was wanting from the company. I pointed out what the company says; "Brake Check offers the highest quality products. Our brake pads and shoes are structurally engineered to OEM specifications, and are proven to outlast the competition in industry tests." "You can depend on us because we stand behind our work 100%." "Your total satisfaction is our goal.". My last response from him was October 31st. I answered on November 2nd. I have not heard anything from the company since I sent another email on November 11th asking when I would hear from a person higher than Mr. L. I have been summarily ignored.
I went in to this company in December of last year because my brakes were making noise. I was informed that I needed new brakes and that my rotors needed to be shaved. I had the work done and said I wanted the same ceramic brakes put on the vehicle that it had to begin with. Since the day the brakes were put on there has been noise coming from the brakes. I had been told that new brakes will make noise for a while and I was busy with work (12hr night shifts)so I had to wait until January or February to bring the vehicle in and have the noise checked out. I told them that the main noise was coming when I back up and there was brake dust on my rear wheels. The brakes were looked at and I was told that there was an arm bar that slipped out of place and they fixed it. The noise did stop for when I was going forward but did not stop while in reverse.
I brought the vehicle in the first week of March. While I was in for the same noise problem I had them service my front brakes. I moved to California about three weeks later. The vehicle was brought out on a trailer and I don't drive very much out here. The brakes never quit making noise and I finally was so nervous that I brought the vehicle in to an auto shop and had them check the brakes. I was informed that they believed I either had metal brakes or very poor ceramic brakes put on because of the metal showing on the pads. I was also informed that my rotors were warped, it was recommended to have both replaced. When I made contact with Brake Check I was asked to take my vehicle in to Firestone for a second opinion.
I was told by Firestone that the brakes put on my vehicle were of such poor quality that the brakes were already worn half way down and the rotors are at the point of warping and would have to be replaced. The man at Brake Check I was dealing with told me that because I am in California and was unable to specify if the brakes on me vehicle were ceramic or not, they are only willing to prorate the brakes and give me $45 plus the money I am out for the inspections. This is unacceptable. Other than faulty equipment, there is no reason for my brakes and rotors to be in the poor shape they are in. I am not only out the money I originally paid, but I am also out my time. I spent a minimum of seven hours in their shop and I have spent approximately four hours sitting in shops out here in reference to my brakes. If I were to charge for my time it would amount to over $200.00. I file a complaint with the BBB and the company had until today to answer the complaint. They haven't bothered. I'm wondering if my next step would be small claims court?
