Denise of Hamillton, ON February 21, 2009
Denise of Hamillton ON (02/21/09) They regularly call from the number saying my car warrantly will expire. I press 1 to speak to a rep. I ask them where there office is located, they refuse to tell me, then they hang up on me.
I am tired of being harrassed by these people, and them abusing my telephone line which I pay for. Janet of Vista, CA February 19, 2009
Janet of Vista CA (02/19/09) Recorded messages are received at our home phone number at least once a day. When I talk to the very rude representative, she refuses to give any info, except for the company name, demands to know my name and then says That's not who I'm looking for. We are on the no call list.
General aggravation at being disturbed, called away from whatever I am doing. I would never do business with this company, so there hasn't been any real economic harm to us. Sunny of San Francisco, CA February 18, 2009
Sunny of San Francisco CA (02/18/09) I've received at least 5 calls telling me this is the second and last notice that the warranty on my car is about to expire and to press 1 to speak to a rep. I have spoken to 3 reps to have my name/number removed from their list. The first rep said sure but didn't even confirm my number and when I pointed this out she said - Oh yeah. What's your number? She also refused to provide any information on which car for security reasons - yeah right!
The 2nd and 3rd reps were both somewhat polite and assured me that they would remove me but I'm still getting these calls. When I asked one what company they work for, they repeated what seemed to be a scripted line: I represent Warranty Services. Screams scam - I just wish they would take me off the list!!!
personal annoyance and time. David of San Antonio, TX February 18, 2009
David of San Antonio TX (02/18/09) Hey, it was an obvious scam the minute I answered the phone. I've heard from these buffoons before and I usually got fed up and hung up on them, but THIS TIME I had some fun at their expense! All of you out there should do the same thing! Here's what I did... My phone rings and lists an unlisted number on caller ID. I hear a computer tell me to press one if I want to save my car's warranty. I hold and wait for buffoon #1 to come on. After about 5 minutes, a man with a heavy foreign accent starts reading from a script...saying things like we've given you many opportunities to save your car's warranty, blah blah, etc...and then he starts listing prices and coverage.
I let him ramble on for several minutes, and I kept him on the phone and kept getting him more excited as I would sound glad he called to help me! Imagine Buffoon #1's excitement when I said I want to go ahead and pay the full 2900 right now and save my car's warranty! He transfers the call to Buffoon #2 who has an obnoxious New York or New Jersey accent (no offense, fellow Americans) and he gets right down to business. He wants to know what credit card I wanna use, and so I kinda told him hmm, let me think about it for a minute here... and then after keeping Buffoon #2 on the phone long enough to get him a little frustrated, I asked him for one of HIS credit card numbers and told him to put the 2900 bucks on HIS card so that I didn't get scammed! And then I simply hung up on the idiots.
Hey, yall have some fun with these fools. Keep em on the phone. Let them got through their entire intimidation sales pitch, and let 'em think they've got a real sucker on the line...let them waste their time. Go along with it until the very last minute, and then tell them to [get lost], scammer! and hang up on them. If the majority of the calls they make end up similar to this, sooner or later they'll be climbing the walls in frustration. Hopefully, they'll eventually go out of business.
Had lots of fun with the scammers! Jill of Stoney Creek, ON February 17, 2009
Jill of Stoney Creek ON (02/17/09) A computerized message from Warantee Services came to my work cell phone to tell me that my warantee for my new vehicle was expiring, and that this was the last warning I was going to get because they had already warned me (which wasn't true, as far as I know). I pressed 1 for more info, but when I spoke to the woman who answered, she would NOT tell me who she was, what company she represented, or what vehicle she was referring to. She told me that the computer database would call with reference to which vehicle she was talking about. She was very rude, and I have no idea if this was legitimate or not.
Of course, I do not want to void any warantee that I might have, since I have two cars & a company car. When she would not tell me who she was, however, I became suspicious. I passed her along to my husband, but when he asked her what vehicle she was referring to, she rudely restated the info about the computer database calling & hung up on him. I very much doubt that this call is legitimate, but I would appreciate hearing about it if it is. I'll also check with my fleet manager at work. The number that they called from was, but that number doesn't connect, needless to say.
There were no real consequences, other than that I am nervous that this was a legitimate call & that I might have voided a legitimate warantee by not being able to respond.
