I shipped my car through American Auto Transporters, out of Canton, MA. When my car arrived, it had been transferred to a small truck, and had a dent in the fender, and 7 vertical scratches on the rear bumper. I followed the instructions for filing a claim. But American Auto refused to honor their agreement, and stated that only the truck driver was liable. He offered me $500 on a $1700 repair. I contacted American Auto again. They basically said they would not pay any claims. Do not believe your contract. American Auto can smash up your car as much as they want. And they will tell you to go find some random truck driver to deal with.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I needed to have a vehicle transported from Arkansas to Virginia. I requested costs from several transporters. Claire **** (American Autotransporters) called saying that she had my information but was missing address information. During the phone call she indicated that the cost would be $600.00 with a $50.00 deposit. She said that she just contacted a driver and they were available to pick up the car by Friday. (This was Wednesday). Since the car was being picked up within 2 days of our conversation, I agreed to the cost and deposit.
Well, to ensure I had a record of this transaction, I requested this information be sent via email for my record. After numerous calls, she finally sent the form. This form had the cost of $750.00 with a deposit of $150.00. When I attempted to call to have this corrected, of course I could not get anyone to respond. Just had to leave messages. Then to make matters worst, the car was never shipped. After waiting over a week with no responses, I sent an email and called to cancel all dealings with this company.
When I received my credit card statement, I notice that this company charged the $150.00. This was a totally unauthorized charge. Of course when I attempted to call Claire, American Autotransporters, or their customer service line, all were recordings, and no one has since returned any calls or emails. Currently I am working with my credit card company to retrieve this cost. I would tell all potential customers of this organization, to avoid them if at all possible. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Deceit, miscommunication, and out right lies has caused me an extremely high level of frustration and wasted time.

All American auto transport (888-402-7447)is a pathetic business. I have found several reviews on their bad service and lies on the internet. All of them nearly identical to my situation. ALEX **** AND TINA **** both lied to me about their company and services.
My car (a 2006 Nissan Altima) was available for pickup at Long Beach CA on May 3rd 2007. To this day May29th 2007 I have been lied to and mis-treated by Tina **** the customer service representative. She told me I would have my car by the end of this month, now she tells me that there are no drivers available until after memorial day. She told me that on May 16th 2007 she sent a driver to pick up my car and that it would arrive to me at my door before the end of the month.
When I called her back on the 25th she said that there were no available drivers. She flat out lied to me. She even said that on the 16th when I called they had no idea my car was available for pick up, and that if I did not call who knows how long my car would be sitting there! And still, it is not on its way. I do not know what to do now. I have written letters to the Better Business bureau and to the Attorney Generals of Illinois and Florida (Florida is where they are based out of). And I am going to do so to th rest of they states. Do not use this so-called company, for it will only bring you inconvenience and stress.

I purchased a late model Cadillac from eBay, from a dealer in Florida. I live in Arlington, MA, so I decided to go with a local auto transport service. I, (regretfully), decided to use American Auto Transporters, Inc. to do the job. They promised to pick the car up in Florida on March 31, 2006, and deliver it within 4 - 8 days. I phoned them every day for a progress report, and they kept telling 'the car is in transport and is on schedule'.
A week passed, no car. I called them and asked where the car was; they had no clue. Later that day the manager (Nick) called me back and told me that my car had never left the Florida dealership, But he didn't apologize, instead, HE BLAMED ME, claiming I should have known the car hadn't left Florida yet. "Most people know when their cars have left the terminal", he stated.
Next, he promised the car would be picked up in Florida on Monday, April 10, 2006, and that he would "expedite the car to me", so that it would arrive either Wednesday or Thursday, (April 12-13). Well guess what? Today it's late on April 13th and no car yet. I called American Auto Transporters again, and again they don't know where my car is. NO APOLOGIES, just an annoyed sounding "Nick" saying he will try to find out and call me back, or a totally clueless female secretary telling you lies about your car's whereabouts. Two and a half hours later, still no call. I called him, again, he doesn't know where the car is.
Do yourself a favor, AVOID AMERICAN AUTO TRANSPORTERS like the plague. Any company can make a mistake, but these people keep piling on lies to cover themselves, rather than apologize and be helpful.

This is my second complaint I have posted regarding auto shipping. After being "screwed over" by Major Transport, Inc., I was extremely hesitant to find another company. After multiple phones call I came across American Auto Transports. After explaining my previous problem with Michael, he pretended to be sympathetic and "promised" to help in any way possible. He promised to come get the car in 24-48 hours and stated multiple times it would be no later than 48 hours.
When the 48 hours were up, I once again had to call a company and question this credibility. After being hung up on several times I finally reached Michael. He apologized stating that the dispatcher should have called the previous day and he would call me back in 10 minutes with an EXACT time of departure.
Two hours later I called Michael back, only to receive nothing but an uninterested attitude and a careless way of handling the situation. He rudely informed me that he never said he would call me back and that the dispatcher was going to call. When asked when this would happen, he said he had no idea sometime that day.
That was several days ago and unsurprisingly I still have not heard from Michael or his dispatcher. Being that I had to find another company, I have not wasted any more of my time to contact ANOTHER useless company. I am extremely disappointed with the way certain companies handle business and their customers. I have worked in people-orientated environments for several years and would be fired on the spot if I treated colleagues in this manner let alone CUSTOMERS.

I had 2 autos picked up on 7/2 in MA. I was told that they would take no longer than 11 days max from after the holiday 7/5.
After many calls on my part I was told that American had contracted the deliver to M&E and that they would deliver my cars on 7/14. I spoke with M&E on Thursday 7/14 that I would probably get my autos on the following Tuesday/Wednesday. On Tuesday 7/19 I called M&E and they said I would have them this weekend 7/23 or 7/24. On Thursday 7/21 M&E told me the driver would contact me on Friday to set up the delivery for Sat or Sun. It is now 7/24 3 weekends later that planned and I have not had a call. I am calling to police to report the cars as stolen.
I have learned thru reading complaints online that M&E may not be licensed or insured. If this is the case I will hold you 100% responsible. I will be contacting authorities on Monday 7/25 if I do not have my autos. At this point I honestly and starting to think they have been stolen and the your business is a fraud/theft ring. I am writing you this note in case your business is legitimate. If it is, I suspect that you will want to help me resolve this quickly and you will not want to use M&E again.

Since I was relocating from Quincy MA to Long Beach CA, I contracted with American Auto Transporters to move my 2 cars. For sure I was promised the moon and the stars, answering with confidence that it will take a week to 10 days max to deliver each car. They insisted upfront payment by money order, which I did. Since we figured we will need a car in California and he promised that he has trucks leaving to California at least three times week, we delivered the first car 10 days before we leave then the second one on the day we flew out.
Needless to say three weeks passed by, while I am paying for car rental, and they did not deliver any of the cars or return my several calls. Then I get a call from a driver of another company (ARC transport, FL) who was clueless to any the details telling me American Auto Transports shipped both cars on the same day!! That is a week delay contrary to their strong promises of shipping in less than 24 hours.
The driver refused to deliver to my address claiming that his truck will "not fit" in the street - while we have 2 or 3 18-wheelers delivering all the time - and insisted on unloading the cars in a terminal 38 miles away from my home at a cost of $25 per car daily. Dealing with the carrier's office was another ordeal as John P, the owner needs a crash course in professionalism, manners and common sense.
As a consequence of this unprofessional, deceiving practice I ended up paying $300 more ($250 for extra week or car rental and $50 for storage car fees) in addition to the emotional and mental distress they put me and my family thru.
