Fastway Towing & Collision

Brooklyn, NY

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Fastway Towing & Collision are professional thieves and crooks! On May 12, I came with a friend to the Toys "R" Us parking lot to pick up a baseball gear in Modell's (which is the same mall area). We decided to have a quick catch in the park nearby before heading back to our car, to put away our gloves and balls. As we approached the parking lot, we realized, lo and behold, the vehicle's gone! At first, I panicked, thinking it was stolen in this vast space when suddenly, this burly dude walked up to me and told me that my car has been towed and either I pay now for it, in cash, or I can pick it up on Monday and pay additional fees.

I couldn't believe my eyes. Are you kidding me? This is ludicrous! So I told the guy to bring back the car and I'll pay the fee of $217.00 - all for choosing this parking lot when these poachers were around. As we were standing there, my friend noticed a pair of girls that had just left their car and were about to do the same mistake we made. So he ran up to them and warned them of the menace lurking nearby. They left quickly, lucky for them.

The guy standing next to me, realizing this, started yelling at me, "Your friend's being a wise guy, eh. Well, the price just went up to $272.00!" I was flabbergasted. I noticed a 72 precinct cruiser patrolling nearby, so I sprinted up to them and quickly explained my dilemma - to which they responded by saying they cannot do anything at all. If I want to, I can take them to civil court; otherwise, their hands are tied.

In 2012, in a civilized city, I just got legally robbed by Authorized Wreckers Inc. and they are a gang of thugs. They brought my car, an hour later, to the other side of the lot, as to not give away their coveted position. I paid them the money in cash and the driver sped off.

I went out to the Rite Aid pharmacy in my area to pick up some medication and other items. The line in the store was long as usual, so I went across the street to handle some other business. In less than 5 minutes, some guy ran up to me saying "what type of car do you drive? I think it's being towed". I ran out and lo and behold, it was my car being towed away. I stopped the driver and asked why was he towing my car. He claimed that I was illegally parked in the Rite Aid parking lot. After I explained I was awaiting to pick up my prescription, he accused me of lying and refused to unhook my car until I gave him $136 cash. He refused a credit card.

He then directed me to the nearest ATM. I paid the money and demanded a receipt and a business card. I later called to file a complaint and the woman who answered the phone unprofessionally hung up on me. I called back and then the phone just rang. Afterwards, I noticed the guy who ran up to me to tell me my car was being towed was posted in the Rite Aid lot as a lookout. I suspect that after customers parked, he calls the guy driving the tow truck to tow the car so they could probably split the money.

I was standing in the parking lot of my grocery store, when out of nowhere the towing company started towing my car. When I obstructed him from doing so, he did not listen but kept blackmailing me if I did not give my credit card and driver's license he will tow my car. When I refused to give it until a police authority arrived, they started towing my car. When I asked them not to, they again wanted my credit card and license. I gave it to them unwillingly only on condition they will not charge my card. The driver simply took it, rolled the windows of the car and charged my card. I refused to sign it and they put their own garbage signature. I will not pay this $136 for no mistake of mine. I have disputed the charge with credit card company. These people are not only a nuisance but also dishonest. They simply tried to robbed me. There needs to be a stop put to this crime.

I parked in my Sovereign bank's lot at 5th Avenue and 87th Street, then went across the street to mail a couple of things at the Post Office. The line was long, as usual, and my car was towed while I was waiting. When I went back to go into the Sovereign bank to make a deposit, I noticed my car was gone. The un-uniformed man standing there lurking on the curb conveniently had all the information for me. For the princely sum of $227 on a credit card or $217 cash, I could get my car delivered back to me. The tow truck driver had my car at the police precinct to quickly register it so I could not report it stolen.

When I asked the Sovereign bank manager about it, she said there was nothing she could do as it was PSJ Management that orders the tows and she could not give me my money back. The tow truck driver and the man who had been watching the lot to call the tow truck said I could sue the company in small claims court and complain to the owner. Small chance. I will leave my job as a preschool teacher to go to small claims court for $227. The court and attorney fees would be more than that. A little internet research revealed that Authorized Wreckers Inc. has frequently changed the name of their business, and looking at Google Earth showed that their operating address of 147 King Street in Red Hook is little more than a vacant lot.

What galls me about all of this is the feeling of entrapment. Yes, it was all technically legal and there was a sign saying bank business only, but I am a great bank customer and a loyal one. Why not give me 10 minutes in the post office? My on foot post office at 4th Avenue and 68th street is closing, so I have to get used to going over to 5th Avenue. There's no parking over there and I was going to the bank anyway. I did end up making my deposit while waiting for my car to be towed back to me. Sigh. It's a sad day when people make their living doing evil unto others legally!

My family and I were at a supermarket in Elmhurst, Queens. The car was parked in the lot. We stepped out to purchase a drink for our cranky 2-year old son. We were suddenly interrupted by a man who asked if we owned a gray Toyota Corolla, to which we replied yes. He proceeded to inform us that our car was being towed. Upon returning to the lot, our car was gone. The man showed us the sign that stated that cars in violation would be towed. We called the company, who said that we would be charged $190 for our car back and we asked them to bring it back. We proceeded to call the police. We were subsequently informed that our car was around the back of the store.

We attempted to tell them that we are, in fact, customers of the supermarket and showed them our bags of groceries and receipt for proof to no avail. We were charged $200 for our car back. As we proceeded to leave, we saw that the tow truck was back in action, towing yet another car out of the lot. I am so disgusted by this company and I cannot understand why they continue to be in business.

I went to shop at a supermarket, and figured while I was there, I'd go pick up a prescription from the drugstore across the street. Hardly something to get towed over, but it happened. I am (or was rather, after this incident) a customer of the supermarket. I even had a receipt for my groceries. I wasn't gone for 10 minutes, when someone from Fastway was already working on my car with his hook. By the time I got back across the street, and noticed my car was gone, all I could do was get information from the merchant, on where to pick up my car.

I also liked how when I asked the people at the supermarket why my car was towed, they said that I left the lot. I like how they remembered me out of the hundreds of people within that store, unless they had people from either the supermarket or the towing company to follow people around. In any case, the timing seemed too quick to count it as a coincidence. It seems that they had Fastway somewhere nearby, just in case they wanted to tow someone for a quick buck.

Bad news, I had to go into the 'hood. Good news, I only paid $49 to get my car back. Was it really worth it for the supermarket? I go there (or rather went there now) weekly for my groceries, and the amount I spend isn't minimal at all. Their loss for partnering up with such a sleazy tow company. I believe I am yet another customer that they have lost due to their practices.

On 5/28/09 around 6:27pm I parked on CVS parking lot located on Sheepshead Bay Rd Brooklyn , NY. Sign on the entrance to the parking lot specified that the parking is for CVS customers only. I went to the store where I met my wife who just finished making a purchase. CVS store has two exits one of which is back exit near the parking lot and a front exit. Given the fact that the cash register was next to a front (main) exit we used that exit to leave the store. At which point we promptly proceeded towards our parked vehicle walking on the sidewalk adjacent to the CVS store. While approaching my car at about 6:34 pm I saw a towing company, still on the parking lot, towing my car. They refused to release my car even after I showed them receipt from CVS. One of the towing workers said that he only would release the car if I would pay him $100. I did not spend any time with towing company and refused any negotiations.

After I refused to pay him for illegal removal of my vehicle i proceeded to the store to speak with CVS employees. A sales person at register 5, who introduced herself as Zuzelda was our cashier at the time of purchase. From time that I saw my vehicle being towed to the time I first approached our cashier passed no more than 7 min. In CVS I also spoke with gentlemen named Harry, who said that he is new manager and dont know how to help me. Gentlemen named Yunus also introduced himself as a manager but refused to help me at all. After some time I managed to speak with a real manager named Paul, who said that the lot is NOT being managed by CVS and the sign in front of the parking lot was placed there by the owner of the lot (or towing company). Manager of CVS gave me telephone numbers of the owner of the lot and the managing company of the same lot.

The owner of the lot named Angelo from PSJ management. Mr. A. refused to help me. However he did said that the area under video surveillance and that he has tapes of the occurrence but refused to provide me a copy. I also got in touch with the guy who claims to be an owner of a managing company Citi Corp Management, who also appear to be an owner for the same towing company which towed my car (but he denied that). The gentleman introduced himself as Samy F. and gave me address of his company: Magines Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11222. The address is an empty parking lot with no office or any kind of building where his company can reside. After pointless conversations he refused to neither compensate me on my towing expenses nor repair the vehicle.

The company that towed my car is Fast Way towing: DCA # 1244731 phone 718- located at Grand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205. Except some young guys (17-20 years old ) who towed my car, Fast Way towing provided no representation and I could not resolve my issue with them. All my calls were picked up by a lady who claimed to be only a worker and that she does not have authority to solve my issues. She only took my messages but nobody ever called me back. Only at the time of towing I spoke with a guy over the phone who claimed to be an owner of the towing company(could not reach him anymore). But besides asking me for a $100 he was not willing to straighten out the situation.

At the moment of the accident there were around 6 guys which were actively involved in the process of towing my car. Under Freedom of Information Law I was able to request registration information of the vehicles on which all guys from towing crew left the CVS parking lot. Two last names are: B. (license Plate: ECAxxxx) and K. (license Plate: DJPxxxx). Whether they are working for Fast Way Towing or not is unknown, but they were involved in towing of my vehicle.

While waiting for the police to arrive, the guy who asked me for $100 had ran away. When we called the towing company person on the phone said we should've exited the store through the back entrance. Now, 1) the cashiers are located near the front exit (which implies that a reasonable person would exit from the front entrance rather than walking with full bags through the store again) and 2) there wasn't any sign near the cashiers nor anywhere in the store that warned for those customer who parked the cars in the parking lot had to exit only through the back exit. And exiting CVS and walking towards parking lot does not give towing company to tow the car. And obviously since I exited the store and still was able to see them towing my car shows that I headed straight to the lot.

Police was called, and arrived after all Fast Way towing employees disappeared from the lot. Officers did not want to make a report since it is not a criminal occurrence. Next day after I paid the towing expense I picked up the car only to notice that it is damaged. The car was taken to a car shop for evaluation. From this point neither the CVS manager, PSJ management, Citi Corp Management nor Fast Way Towing Company wanted to resolve my issue in a civil manner.

Fast Way Towing should be given props for indeed FAST towing (Under 7 min from point I locked my car to being towed is remarkable). However they should be responsible for illegal removal of my vehicle that resulted in damages and monetary burden on my family. All plans that me and my family had for weekends were ruined. Expense of 168.37 was paid since the day the car was towed. And on top of it car is damaged for the total of $1050.
