Melissa of Everett WA (07/05/08) The end of May I went to my Walmart Tire and Lube center to have all four of my tires replaced. I drop my car off and am told it'll be about an hour. Not a problem. I go into the store an pick up some items I needed before coming back to wait in the waiting area. I am there four hours for them to change my tires. I live just down the street and go straight home as I worked in the morning and it's now past 10 p.m.
The next morning I start my way to work when I hear what I thought was the tire rubbing on the passenger side. I get to work and check the tire but find no heat and no signs of rubbing. I contact Walmart that day and they said to bring it back in and they'd look at it. I do so and they can find nothing wrong and I'm told that I can come back the next day in the morning to talk to one of their head mechanics. I work morning hours for the next two days, unhappily driving on this loud tire before I get back in.
The head mechanic says she can find nothing wrong either and I should take it to Les Schwab and see if I need an alignment. They did opt to rotate tires to see if it helped at all. It didn't. I go to Les Schwab, they find nothing but a bent rim, which isn't causing the noise, I have it changed and away I go. Noise still intact. My parents came to visit and my father, a hobbyist mechanic goes over the tire as well. As a last ditch effort to figure it out we check the pressure. The drivers side tire is at 85psi and the tire limit is 44psi. I had not put air in these tires after getting them changed, I hadn't done anything to them which means the pressure is what it was when I left walmart.
For supposed professionals they didn't give me very good service on my car and I could have died from the fact that they were negligent. I will never be going to Walmart for tires again. Ever.
Terry of Tulsa, OK June 24, 2008
Terry of Tulsa OK (06/24/08) I bought new tires from Walmart with a service warranty and twice when I returned (normal working hours 9-5) to have my tires rotated, Walmart did not have tire techs on duty to do the work.
Christi of El Reno, OK June 8, 2008
Christi of El Reno OK (06/08/08) I use Walmart for the quick enviroment and convinance. My last episode with thier tire center was horrible but I struck it up as a bad experiance. This morning at 11:50 am I dropped my vehicle for a oil change and a tire to be mounted on the right rear due to the fact the tire I had on the vehicle had a plug in the sidewall until I could afford another tire because I live alone and on a disability check only. My Physical conditions leave me in a position that I can niether sit nor stand for long periods of time. The customer center was full of people and there were only three hard school like chairs in the area anyway. I walked the store as long as I could; I came back to the center. My vehicle was not ready. There was no place to sit so I went outside and found a chiar to sit in.
After sitting for a period of time and relizing my vehicle had yet to be even brought in for service; I walked the store again. After returning to the Car Center agian,my vehicle had still yet to be taken care of or even brought in. There was an empty chair in the center so I sat for a period of time. After no longer being able to sit, I again walked the store. My third time around and over two hours later I AGAIN went back to the center where it appeared they were completing my vehicle. NO ONE offered any apology for the time consumed nor my inconvinance.By this time I was COMPLETELY worn out and in major pain. I paid my 35.21 ticket and came directly home. I noticed both right tires appeared to be low in air pressure and looked at them closely. There were still plugs in both right side vehicle tires. I was angry however totally exhausted and could not make another trip back to the store.
After entering my home I looked at my ticket and saw that they had replace the driver's side tire; which was a perfectly fine tire! Then made notice that the two tires on the passanger side were unsafe due to plugs. My daughter called the tire center and explained how I was handicapped and I could not be put thru the ringer like this. No Manager was on duty for the tire center and they explained they had three techs. walk out on them today. This is no excuse. They did however offer at my conviniance to change the tires at no cost.
My Husband later took my vehicle to the store to have the tires put on correctly. They did what they were suppose to do and might I add at no cost. However, after being promised that once the vehicle got to the center they would get it in immediately; again sat for a total of 53 minutes for them to switch the tires over. He spoke with the store Manager being that no Tire Center Manager was available on Saturday and no one knew his phone # nor how to get hold of him. The Manager of the store only offered a mere ( I'm sorry.)
After arriving back home I had to take medications for the pain I was in, not to mention being exhausted. This put me in bed for 5 hours and making me miss a wedding that I was to be present at. The fuel back and forth of my cost in which my vehicle had to be taken back for the correct repairs. A total of over 4 hours in travel time and thier repair time to get the vehicle right. Thier customer service center needs to be more handicap equipted and more than a few VERY uncomfortable chairs available to customers. Rh of Midlothian, VA May 23, 2008
Rh of Midlothian VA (05/23/08) I promise never to do business with Walmart Tire Centers after my experience with the Midlothian VA location. I have a contract for tire rotation with Walmart and came in for our oil change & tire rotation. They refused to rotate the tires claiming uneven wear.. this vehicle just came from a shop that passed Virginia State inspection. I ask them if they noticed anything wrong with the tire and they said they did not. I believe Walmart Tire employees are just using this excuse to get out extra work. I will never buy from them again and I have 4 drivers in our family. I also plan to tell all of my friends.
Donald of Borden, IN May 14, 2008
Donald of Borden IN (05/14/08) Bought new tires with Walmart. When I purchased them I had them include rotation and balance free for the future of the tires. I was in accident and paralyzed but am mobile today thanks to good surgeons, but my neck is fused. This will tie in with the rest of my story. I was foolish enough to think that if there were any issues with my tires they would tell me when I come for oil change and rotation and balance every 3000 miles. Now, since I cant bend to look under the truck at my tires, I was told by someone that one of my front tires was getting smooth and these are still pretty new. Maybe back about 3 previous oil changes I even asked a service manager to take a tire depth gauge and check my tires. He reported to me that they were wearing evenly.
So, I asked the service manager, Do you offer alignment here and he said No. I replied, OK so it that why I have a bald tire now and nobody ever told me it was happening. All he said was I am sorry sir. I told him, Well you have the usual 2 hours plus to figure out what you can do about it. I feel the store owes me tires. I am depending on them to report to me about my tires since they rotate and balance them so often. Not to mention that everytime I go in to have service I spend at least 2 hours waiting and I realize thier plans. They do it intentionally so you will buy things in the store while you wait. I was even told that by a competitor that I went to and spoke with for my next tire purchase and oil service.
To end this, the service manager made sure he wasnt around when my vehicle was finished and ready. Now I am stuck with it. Unable to depend on the tires to take my family on the road. Sounds like good terms to get a lawyer maybe. Unsafe for family. 400 dollars for new tires. Vehicle driven once per week so tires are practically brand new. Rich of Haddonfield, NJ February 10, 2008
