Tire Kingdom

JOHN of Tallahassee, FL March 19, 2010

I went to Tire Kingdom to purchase tires mainly because of the rebate they offered. Besides having to wait hours to get my tires and putting up with poor customer service, I was denied the rebate. Yet that is what the manager sold me on in the first place. I just received a letter from Tire Kingdom informing me that my request for the 40 Visa rebate was denied because I did not meet the qualifications. They closed with these words; "We appreciate your value as a customer and hope that you will take part in future programs".

Unfortunately I will not be taking part in future programs because I am unhappy with the service of Tire Kingdom. Not only is the service very slow (I had to wait hours to get my tires) but they sold me on getting my tires there by offering this very rebate that was denied. I could have got it done cheaper and faster at another shop. Besides the other shop has better customer relations.

John of Fort Myers, FL March 8, 2010

On March 30, 2009 I paid for 4 tires, alignment and brakes, front & rear for 1094.52. On February 24,2010 I noticed a grinding sound from rear of van & took to Tire Kingdom. I was informed the rear brakes were metal to metal & was going to cost 304.89 to fix. I explained to the manager that the brakes were only 11 months & 18,416 miles old. Now I'm not telling my age but let's put it this way, I've owned many new autos and never had to replace rear brakes before 50 to 60 thousand miles at the earliest. He could not explain why they wore out so soon. He offered to not charge labor (I hade a 2 year labor & lifetime pads warranty) but I still had to buy new rotors, total cost 233.18.

They also put the wrong mileage on the invoice 188,329 miles instead of the actual mileage of 148,329. Hummm. I called Tire Kingdom Corp. office & complained. A few hours later the district manager called me and explained they did no wrong. After much discussion he only offered to cover the cost of 1 rotor 99.99. I called NAPA where they purchased the rotors, walk in off the street price was 54.00 & you know Tire kingdom gets them at a discount. After declining the managers offer, I told him I will call my credit card company to dispute the charges. The manager then started getting snotty with me, saying "We will no longer negotiate with you" and quickly hung up the phone. Great way to treat your customers.

Donald of Troy, PA March 6, 2010

Had Buick SUV state inspected and all was okay 0n 1/4/2010 except I was made aware that front brakes were nearing the replacement point, but a trip to Fl. would not be a great risk. While in FL. developed a thumping in/around right front tire area. Not wanting to do a lot of excessive driving to locate a Bucik dealer, I came across above mentioned Tire Kingdom. The service upon entering was great and they test drove it and was able to repeat the noise.

Further evaluation revealed it was the brake rotor and needs replacing. Rcommended that both sides be done and I agreed. The person also felt that the rears were in need of replacement and I didn't agree but he went on to state the hazard possibilities if I didn't. Not being an expert, I agreed but it turns out he was no expert either. Cost for sevices 804.01.

Upon returning home with the pads, I went to dealer that performed inspection and he showed me the brake results of the inspection. Removed left front wheel, pad measurement within limits, visula inspection of rotor OK. Remove right rear wheel, pad well within limits, visual of rotor OK. Showing him the rear pads I had, it was his professional opinion they didn't need replacing nor did the rotors. In addition, the parts appeared came from NAPA and having worked there for a few years, know that their price structure is based on amount purchase by a business. So, in my case, I was charged 80-100% above their cost. An estimate at a Midas Muffler shop was more than 100.00 less as was Kost Tire. I feel I was taken advantage of because I was from out of town and their scheme is to scare one into more that the need really is.

Called about the coupon sale that expires 2-28-10 regarding ANY SIZE Tire is the sales pitch used in display and advertisement. I called and inquired about this and was advised that this sale is not as advertised. My tire size is 245X65X17 and I was told that does apply to ANY TIRE COOPER Brand well, this store never sells Cooper Tires so how can you advertise TIRE KINGDOM ??? Im disappointed because I drove across this city of New Orleans where everything is far apart due to Hurricane to purchase and advised this does not apply due to non stock of Cooper Tires, but to come in and purchase other brand tires.....Bad Advertisement....

Charles of Palm Harbor, FL January 27, 2010

Costomer#8940127,Invoice#35850738-RI.Took my Ford van in for a tire and had a coupon for oil and filter change, which included fluid check, lube, inspection and tire rotation.I had my brake light come on a few day's prire and asked to check my brakes. The tire I got has a big seam,1/4 inch deep on their Stampede store brand which they said was a great tire.I wamted Uniroyal Tiger Paw's to mach the ones I had bought their. They said they were no longer made. They did not Lube anything and did not see brake fluid leaking from the right rear.Even when the rotated thr tire wet with fluid.I checked the brake fluid and it was over a pint low. Then I looked under the van and saw the leaking fluid. This was only 10 min,and 5 miles to my home. They never checked fluids, rear brakes, or lubed anything! And this tire is defective.

Yvonne of New Port Richey, FL November 30, 2009

I had upper ball joints put into my van, they require press-in and they installed screw-ins which they pressed in. I was driving when they popped out. I'm disabled and it scared me half to death. I have an anxiety problem and had an attack when it happened. My disabled daughter was also in the vehicle at the time.

They had to replace the control arms and upper ball joints again, which they were rude and irritated about letting other customers hear them talk to me the way they did. They had to align my front end 3 times. I had to go back to their store 4 times in order for they to try to fix the problem and they failed. I ended up going to another Tire Kingdom store to the fix problems.

My new tires which cost me 134.99 each resulted in the tires chopping. They refused to satisfy me, but not before insulting me, using profanity, and laughing at me in front of other customers. My husband lost time from work leaving us scrapped for cash, in these already hard times.

David of Naples, FL October 8, 2009

I was from out of town on business and took my car in for a front end noise, the assistant manager suggested I leave the car there and they would look at it and call me with thier findings, later that afternoon he called and said the tires were bad and it was out of line, causing the noise, we discussed the price and I gave them permission to replace the tires and align the front end. Late the same evening the car was delivered to me, and the noise was still there, I immediatly called them back and they told me to bring it back and they would look at it. I took the car back that same evening and the manager decided to take over. A seviceman took my car for a drive and found out it was a front wheel bearing noise, The manager worked up a price and demanded I would need to pay that before they would fix my car. I was told they did not even look at my car previously, but just assumed the tires were the problem, I told them to replace my tires with the ones they took off and they said they no longer had them, they were picked up by the disposal company, I argued with the manager until I finally left with no satisfaction other letting him know I was going to seek litigation. The next day the assistant manager I spoke with origianally called me and said he would make it right, so I brought my car back to him at noon on Friday and explained to him I needed it done as soon as possible because I needed to get back home in Naples, I again left my car there for them to fix it and after several hours, they called and said my car was ready to be picked up.

At around 8pm I picked my car up and started off for Naples, only to find out the car was still making the noise and not fixed, I immediatly called back and spoke with yet another assistant manager and told him of the problem, and told him I would take my car into a Tire Kingdom in Naples and the two managers can work it out, he agreed. The following Monday Morning I took my car into a Tire Kingdom in Naples, and had them look at it, after driving it the service manager said it was the wheel bearings, I explained to him what I had gone through in Apopka the previous week and the manager called the Apopka store, the Apopka store lied to him saying the tires were bad origianally and they were not liable. I left and contacted (left a message)at the corprate office, a day later a gentleman by the name of Jamie Ward contacted me and we discussed the issue at hand, after a lengthy discussion we both agreed in finding out how much the difference would be in the wheel bearing replacement versus the tires and get back to each other the next day or so, I called Jamie 2 days following that conversation, with no response, I t was several days before he returned my call, were as I was in a meeting and unable to discuss in detail my findings, he said to call him when I was freed up I agrred and called him about 2 hours later with no answer, I again left a message. there was no call from him, I contacted and left a message at corprate for someone else to call me, the following day Jamie called me and was unwilling to work with me on getting this resolved. I found out the parts and labor to have the wheel bearings replaced were at a maximum of 184.00 each side. I paid 409.00 for the tires which are in no way coparible to the tires that were originally on my car. I just want what is fair without having to go through all the hassles.

Kimberly of Oviedo, FL September 27, 2009

Brought my truck in for an oil change, but couldn't stay and wait like I normally do. Received a phone call saying my power steering fluid was black and needed to be flushed. I said, "no, only do the oil change." When I brought the truck home and checked the fluids myself, not only was the steering fluid a clear pink, but they hadn't bothered to top off the water or air the tires. I wonder if they even changed the oil?

robert of asheville, NC September 24, 2009

on 5-06-09, a couple of female friends took there car into tire kingdom for brake work and a serpentine belt. this work was done. on 9-19-09, my friends were coming back from a short vacation to florida and were on I-26 coming back into asheville when there car broke down. They pulled the car onto the shoulder of the highway and opened the hood to see what went wrong. A passing motorist and a highway patrolman stoped to help them. upon inspection, they saw that this serpentine belt had come loose as to where the motorist could remove it by his hand. It was not broken and still in one piece.

They had to have the car towed to tire kingdom for repair, (sat. evening 8pm) on monday morning they got with the service manager and told them what happened to the car. They had no power steering and the cars heat lights came on. What was to be warranty work to replace this belt, now became a scam to have more things done on the car. A new water pump, power steering pump pulley and a complete radiator flush at a cost of 645.00. Needless to say, they had no choice but to get the car repaired as they need there car. Used parts were asked to be returned. I took these used parts to other mechanics to really see if it was necessary to have these parts replaced. From the 5 places i went to, no one saw a reason as to why this was done. Deceptive Business Practice on there part.

Wayne of Lake Worth, FL February 26, 2009

Wayne of Lake Worth FL (02/26/09)
I went to Tire Kingdom for an oil change and they talked me into buying 4 tire because of the 500 dollar freegas voucher deal which turned out to be a scam. I would not have bought the tires if the free gas had not been offered.

I am now out 500 dollars because the free gas is a scam.
