New Jersey Sues Duane Read Drugs ... Again

Edward of Port Jefferson Station, NY January 28, 2010

I parked my car in the Duane Reade parking lot at 42-28 Main Street, Flushing, NY. Stood outside waiting for a friend to enter the store with me, so we could shop together. She is Chinese and doesn't need read English. I turned around to look at the parking lot and in a matter of 3 minutes, my car was being towed away. The tow truck driver said I did not enter the store, so I was not a customer. It cost me 100.00 cash to get my back off the tow truck. This is not the way to treat any one, especially a card carrying loyal customer. I would like to be reimbursed the 100.00.

Bernadette of Bronx, NY January 24, 2010

I was in DR & I was picking up a few items. The cashier was talking to a customer as I was passing. He did not have his DR card on him as he told her his wife had it. She told him to pick out a bag of chips or doritos. (if you spend 20.00 they are free. I figured I would take a bag to check out as I thought I was close to 20.

After being so nice to the customer before me I was quite taken aback when I was made fun of. I bought two packages of canned soda & the small sticker they put at the end of the shelf stuck to one of my packages. The cashier made fun of me to the other cashier saying look she takes the sale sign and all. I said it was stuck to the package.

Then at the end of the sale I told her I would like the chips if it came to 20.00. That was another laughing match. I told her that I liked to get a freebe when possible. I think she was way out of line even though she wanted to protray that she was just kidding around. I think she should have been as nice to me as she was to the customer who didn't have his DR card with him. She wasn't making fun of him.

Monday january 18, 2010 wen to Duane Reade located at 86th st and Lexington to pick up my prescription for celexa 20mg qty 30tab. when i got home the bottle contained 30 tabs of lamictal 100mg. tuesday i went back to the pharmacy told them about the mistake i had 2 a bottle of lamictal which i hadn't picked up. when i checked the bottle it contained 60 tabs of celexa. i was told by the pharmacist that the new pharmacist had made errors before. the reason i hadn't picked up the lamictal it cost was 70 compared to 8 for the celexa. this was a serious mistake fortunately both medications are being prescribed to me by my Dr. Duane Reade should be investigated.

Duane Reade has a sale policy where you can buy a sale items lets say 4 for 5.00, but if you buy any amount less than 4 you are charge a non sale price. In most stores, like supermarkets you get the sale price even if you buy one item, In today's economy we are trying to be thrifty and may not be able to afford to pay for the 4 items to get the sale price. I feel this is a policy against the conusmer.

jon of Jersey City, NJ December 23, 2009

this is the second time second time one of my Rx has been shorted. I got home and counted the pills and both times they were one pill short. The last time I complained when i went back for the refill they simply put on the refill order to recount. Now I'm thinking that must be a warning to the pharmisist to beware, this is a customer who counts the pills, make sure you give them the correct number of pills. But this time I went with a new Rx and I figured getting shorted wouldn't happen again, but sure enough when i got home, i only had 19 pills when i was suppose to get 20.

GREGORY of FLUSHING , NY December 11, 2009

On 12/9/09 at around 12:40 am I went into the store to buy a few things and on my way out, I stopped by the entrance for a few minutes because it was raining, to look for my umbrella. Security came to me in a very threatening manner, almost in my face, telling me to get out of the store, that I had no business standing there. I explained to him that I was a customer and I just finished buying some things and I was looking for my umbrella. He continue harassing me and abusing me verbally. I spoke to the store manager but not satisfaction or apology was given. Again I was told to leave the store, if I had nothing else to buy.

Zoya of Staten Island, NY November 17, 2009

An hour ago, around 1:30PM (11/17/09) I went into the DR store on Madison and 38th to get my rx which I orderd in advance. I always get what I need at this location since its close to my work. After I picked up my rx, and on my way out, saw new eyeliner and mascara that caught my eye and I stoped to test them out. There were testers on top shelve and I took few colors to try them on myself. Apparently, I had the store's security guard following me, because she came up behind me, scared me, and told me that "its agtainst the law to test this out, I can go to jail" I looked at her and told her that those are testers, she came up so close to me, she was breathing in my face and told me that "THERE ARE NO TESTERS IN THIS STORE, EVERYTHING YOU USE, YOU PAY FOR, AND FURTHERMORE THIS IS MY STORE I AM THE OWNER OF THIS DR". I said I want the store manager immediately. She kept following me, was loud and screamed on the whole store that I opened new merchandize and that she will call the police. I waS never that embarased in my life. I asked the manager how can he let her harrase customers like that, its pure harrasment and she had NO RIGHT to come near me, unless she thought I stole something, which she did not!! I will not stand by and get embarased and harrased by the security guard, while the manager stands looking at her with a scarred look on his face.

C. of Irvington, NJ November 3, 2009

At about 12:50 am on Saturday morning, I was stopped and falsely accused of shoplifting by the two guards at the store. They forced me inside a booth to look at a video they claimed showed me taking a bottle off the shelf and putting it in my pocket. But the video clearly showed that I did not do such a thing. Although I did pick up a bottle and looked at it, I put the bottle back on the shelf. The video clearly showed that.

I suffered distress and embarassment from being stopped for no reason. I also missed my bus to New Jersey because of the guards holding me there. I ended up getting home very late. I would like to take legal action against the store.

Aurora of Brooklyn, NY October 27, 2009

I purchase a money order at Duane Reade on October 23,2009. Accidentally, on a rainy the money order got glued to an enevlope that was in my purse. I went to Duane Reade because tats where I purchase it and I told the manager what happen. She told me that Duane Reade only print money orders not cash it. As instruct by the manager, I went to money gram to cash it and they said it was impossible.

li of flushing, NY August 14, 2009

I shopped at that store one night, and the clerk charged my card twice telling me it did not go through ,I ended up using the store's ATM to get 100 cash to pay it. Later I found out those two charge had gone through, but that was after a weekend vocation which I lost my debit card. After I got the new card, I went to the store with recipt, but they did not apologize, especially Soni , the manager, instead of apologize, he questioned me many things as if I was lying to trick him or want to get money from him. I was very angry and he just said " I could not found the transaction.so I can't do anything about it."

He asked me to come back to the store everyday , it didn't help much. I was tired and streesed out, I said I want to complain, they promised to refund to me, but I only got one charge back, they asked me to come back next day, I went there, soni asked a guy to give me refund, which now I came back home and checked, it was not there, I viewed my online banking for two days, it was not there, I guess I just have to go back to the store again, I am so tired, so tired, how can they turned something look like it's my fault ,and during whole process, none of them apologize to me, they seems to accuse me to be the one who create trouble for them.
