Judith of Homosassa, FL March 10, 2010 This is an update on the complaint I filed back in Dec. 2009. After bad problems with Royal Canine puppy food and not knowing where to turn, my friend suggested Bil Jac. I called the rep and was very impressed with what he had to say about their food. In a 15 lb bag of puppy food there is 10 pounds of fresh chicken from American farms, corn from American farmers, no rice or other things from China. All American grown and made. He said I could switch immediately to their food with no bad affects and he was right. I had to switch instantly and they were fine. After all this time, I am very impressed. Would recommend this food to anyone. I have finally found a dog food I can trust to feed my babies and not worry. Things could always happen but I feel confident that this is the best food around. Give it a try. Karen of Bedford, TX February 22, 2010 This company also is owned by Mars- see the current pet food complaints posted regarding Nutro Pet Foods. Something is going on with all the recent/current complaints regarding the pet foods manufactured by Mars-owned companies. Mars needs to pay attention & investigate! Many of us, who have been long term users of their pet foods, are experiencing serious problems with currently purchased pet food batches. sajal of kolkata, India February 17, 2010 I'm a dog lover & owner for last few years.I'm also an uninterrupted customer of your product for last 3-4 years.Every month I purchase at least 40-45 kg premium food from your company ROYAL CANIN.Your food is too good thats why i'm paying for it & its true that now i'm totally habituated with your food. I can't think any thing as a substitiute of your food inspite of the fact that there are so many other companies in our country as you know better than me that India is growing market of the world. But very much unfortunate for me that i'm removing all my beloved dogs from my kennel because I told earlier that i cant think any thing except your product but i'm the last person to compromise with your distributor who is in kolkata.Mr.A is a nice man but unfortunately he has no control to his business & Mrs.A who is the key person of the business, she can't run the show with her behaviour. Her behaviour is too bad.In this matter you please dont trust me,better you should make a market survey among the breeder and I'm sure you'll feel that ROYAL CANIN is loosing its business for that distributor.I'm sure about it that 100% customer are disatisfied with the distributor. yesterday,at about 1.30 pm she called me over phone & told that you have a outstanding of last bill worth Rs.7897.You should pay it now.I told her that now i'm not in my house. So you please come tomorow but she did not agree and started shouting then I was bound to pay her from my wife's bank acount.I have no record of credit of long time.Thats why, not only I,my family is also very much depressed with her behaviour what she did yesterday. With a upset mind I requesting you, please change your disributor and make your customer happy.she thinks that the ROYAL CANIN is running for her,but she dont know, that she is for ROYAL CANIN. James of Scottsdale, AZ February 3, 2010 I have 3 cats that have gotten sick on Royal Canin Renal LP- Modified C dry cat food (7 lb. bag). The cats couldn't keep the food down -- vomited several times each. I don't know the far-reaching effects of using this cat food, but am now worried I have inadvertently damaged my cats' health in some way. Kellie of Englewood, FL January 31, 2010 I started using the Royal Canin Selective 35/30 for my siamese cat, after many trys with other foods, this was all he would eat,it said it was for fussy eaters,my cat is now 14mos old,and Ive been feeding him that food exclusively for approx 10mos,I noticed my cat vomiting his food, not completely digested, after a few hours of eating it,then his coat started to become dull and sparse,he was constantly scratching,he developed a bald spot on his head, after 3 times to the vet,the vet said it must be allergies to his food, this food has corn gluten in it,cats dont digest corn,Iam so upset,I thought I was feeding my cat the very best,I will warn others about this food also Edward of Rancho Santa Fe, CA December 30, 2009 My two 3 year old pure bred Siamese cats recently died from complications from a condition called dilated cardiomyopathy. The treating veterinarian cardiologist said this condition is very rare in cats because it is caused by a diet deficient in the amino acid Taurine and all commercial cat foods are required by the FDA to contain sufficient levels of Taurine. The cardilogist tested my cat's blood to determine their level of Taurine. The tests results indicated they were critically deficient in Taurine. My cats had been on an exclusive diet of Royal Canin's Green Peas & Rabbit Feline Formula for approximately two years. The veterinarian cardiologist then had me bring in a sample of their food to be tested for Taurine levels. The food was tested by the Amino Acid Lab at the UC Davis School of Veterinarian Medicine. The Taurine levels in the food were found to be a fraction of the level required by the FDA. The cardiologist tried contacting Royal Canin in St. Charles, MO, several times but Royal Canin did not return his phone calls. I then tracked down the technical director and explained the situation. I provided all the medical records for my cats and the lab results on their food from UC Davis. They denied that anything was wrong with their food but offered to pay a fraction of my veterinarian expenses. I demanded that they pay all related expenses AND recall their cat food. They refused. I then filed a complaint with the FDA and as far as I know it is still an active complaint being investigated. I also discovered that another cat being treated by my cats' primary veterinarian died within the same time frame from eating Royal Canin's cat food. All cat owners who feed Royal Canin cat food to their cats NEED TO BE NOTIFIED! Veterinarian bills and related expensese exceed 12,000. The retail value of my pure bred Siamese cats is approximately 1,500. Nancy of Salt lake City, UT September 27, 2009 My cat was diagnosed with renal failure nearly three years ago. The vet recommended putting her on a wet food for cats with renal failure. The only food she will eat is the Royal Canin Modified Formula. Recently, Royal Canin told the vet they changed the label (from yellow to blue) but the formula was the same. Not only can I tell from looking at it that the new LP forumla is different, but my cat won't eat the new formula or any other food made for cats with renal failure. Kathryn of Lake Villa, IL August 11, 2009 Two weeks ago I went to my vet to get my 6 year old greyhounds prescription kidney dog food. He has been on IVD Modified for the past 41/2 years as a profilactic measure following a bout of leptospirosis. In all this time his kidney values have been normal and have held steady. The vet brought out a bag of Royal Canin Renal-LP modified and told me IVD was no longer available and that this new product was the same. Not having enough of the old food to transition Wrigley properly I did the best I could but after 4 days on a mix of the old and new food he refused to eat the kibble. Thinking he needed a bit more time I started cooking chicken and rice for him which he'd always devour with relish. By Monday 8/1 he wasn't even interested in the cooked food. A trip to the vet got him a shot to quiet his stomach and a blood draw for labs. The next day Wrigley was even more lethargic so back to vet we went. The blood work should elevated kidney levels of BUN and creatinine so the vet drew a urine sample and found blood and protein in his urine. He was also not concentrating his urine as he should be. Tests were done to rule out bladder infection and another bout of Leptospirosis. Today, a week later, he is back at the vet getting fluids as he is in renal failure. Calls to Royal Canine delivered the corporate line-it's a good food, it won't cause kidney failure, etc. Wrigley's kidneys may have been damaged by the leptospirosis in the past but I cannot accept that a dog who was running around the yard and bouncing around the house like a 2 year old puppy on the day before and the day he started the renal-lp was not adversely affected by this dog food or something in it. In less than a weeks time he went from a silly, happy dog to a dog very near death's door. Lynn of Parkwood, Australia July 26, 2009 I have 3 cats and have been feeding them Royal Canin since they were about 9 mths old, they are now 3 yrs old. Two of my cats now have hypercalcaemia and all 3 have vitamin D excess. I will never use this so-called "super premium" cat food again. Rudra of chennai, India June 5, 2009 These people sold me Expired Dog food, puppy milk. I called them after receing the food and told them the product is expeired, they said it's fine to use for one more year. Just by trusting them as they are from Royal Canin, I served the food. Just in 8 hours all my puppies fall sick and I lost 2 puppies woth of Rs 50,000 INR by the time I realised that was due to the expired food. It took lot of effort to servive the rest of puppies. When I asked them about this. Thier responce is "They have been selling expired food, so for no issues. So they don't bother about this issue". This is huge irresposibility towards Canine being Royal Canin. Report Your Experience
