RUDI of SALT LAKE CITY, UT March 20, 2010 There is only ONE THING WORSE THAN DACOR PRODUCTS, it is DACOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our gripes are mostly contained in the messages posted by Judy of Slidell, LA March 19, 2009 and Maria of Rogers, MN April 24, 2009. In brief, we bought the 1st coffee maker (for 2,700) in the summer of 2006. It lasted approximately 6 months and, after several attempts at repair, and much wrangling, arm-twisting and hours spent on hold trying to speak a customer service agent, the unit was replaced, after being usable approximately 6 out of 12 months. The 2nd unit started malfunctioning within weeks of delivery and, after several repairs, finally quit for good after less than 3 years of service (unless we were willing to replace a 1,500 part, not counting installation labor). In the meantime, we made several futile attempts to contact customer service. Not worth the bother; they keep you on terminal hold, do not help you, do not return your calls, do not follow-up on anything. All around a bad experience with a bad organization. Lisa of East Setauket, NY March 12, 2010 I purchased "high end" Dacor products for my kitchen including a side by side refrigerator, a six-burner stove top, and a double wall oven. I have had nothing but trouble with all three. The refrigerator was delivered with a blown "mother board" so that it wouldn't work. It took me two weeks and MULTIPLE calls and letters to replace the refrigerator. The replacement has a handle that is still loose, and a ding on one of the stainless steel doors. The bottom oven broke within the first month and neither the top nor bottom oven cooks evenly despite the claims. The stovetop flints keep clicking every time I light a burner, and I have to turn them all on randomly until the clicking stops. I will NEVER purchase Dacor again. Sheer annoyance. Stephen of Vineland, NJ March 5, 2010 I purchased a Dacor over the range microwave oven. When i went to use it one day there was a bag of rolls stored in the microwave. When I pulled out the rolls I did not realized that the turntable dish is not secured in the microwave and just sits on top of a round plastic ring that rotates. The microwave dish came out with and went down vertically on my left foot and shattered. I was not wearing shoes at the time and the dish severed the tendon on the top of my left foot, requiring surgery. My surgery was in October and, after 13 weeks in a cast and then a leg brace, I am still in physical therapy with continuing pain. I recently went to Home Depot to look at other microwave ovens and everyone had a mechanism that locks the turntable dish in place so that it can slide out. To clean them you have to lift them up off of the rotor on which they sit and are anchored in order to remove them. None of them slide the way mine does. Jake of Tacoma, WA February 22, 2010 I have a Dacor RSD30r oven that was purchased when we bought our house in 2004. We don't use the oven much and wondered why there were cracks on the front bezel. We didn't worry about it as the oven and stove top was working fine. It just didn't look good. Suddenly a beeping began with a code of F-1. Call a repair person to check it out b/c I had to turn off the fuse to get it to stop beeping. He let me know that this is very common problem w/Dacor ovens and he has replaced many. 1100 would cover the bezel and computer control on the front. There is a defect in the design that allows heat from the stove to overheat the electronic control panel on the front of the stove. This heat causes the bezel to crack and destroy's the computer control. Decor has recognized this problem and has redesigned a replacemnet part for this stove so the heat will excape w/o baking the control panel. I researched Dacor and couldn't believe the pages of complaints by consumers. I waited on the phone for 60 minutes and finally was able to talk to a person. She was nice, but there was nothing Dacor was doing to replace the model defect. I got the sense she has heard this many times and her job was to say sorry. I am going to contact a local TV station that enjoys going after companies that have cheated customers. Edward of Lawson, MO February 12, 2010 I installed the DACOR Renaissance wall oven, model MORS130S, on 10/1/2008. Started having control panel problems just before Thanksgiving that year. Control Panel beeping and LEDs flashing. Appeared to be a heat problem since the control panel was very warm to the touch. After it cooled off, the problem went away. We don't cook much so it was passed over until on 12/31/2008 the control panel showed a C01 error code. Obviously, a solid failure. We called DACOR and was promptly given a 'Distinctive Service Reference Number' and told a repairman would be out for the fix. Repaired on 1/23/09 by replacing two circuit boards (he would've replaced the control panel but was given the wrong part by DACOR). The unit worked fine for 1 month then the cooling fan stopped working. After 2 more weeks, everything failed and I called DACOR again on 3/12/2009. Called DACOR on 3/27/2009 to complain about no repair contractor contacting me. The repair was done 1 week later by replacing all the circuit boards and control panel. This fix lasted for eight months. Early December 2009, we started all over again with the beeping and flashing LEDs. The control panel was getting warm to the touch again. We decided to wait and see how long before the unit failed because it was outside of the 1 year warranty. Failure happened on 1/7/2010 and I immediately called DACOR to complain. The customer service representative said that they have been having problems with that model and a newer control board had been issued. I asked if the newer control board was installed on my unit during the previous repair. I also asked about an extended warranty from the previous repair. She said she would check and call me back. That was 1 month ago and I have been calling every week to leave a message on the representative's voice mail. The second call, I decided to route my call through a different channel and got a different representative. She looked over my file and told me that my warranty appeared to have been extended until June 2010 and that the oven repair would be covered. That was 2 weeks ago. I keep calling and only get voice mail. The woman on the switchboard is very pleasing and routes my call everytime. She even gave me the direct lines to the reps I have had contact with including the manager. I left a message with the manager today (2/12/2010) but feel this was a wate of time. Less than 100 hours on a higher end appliance since install. Unuseable for a period totalling about 4 months since install because of problems. Camille of Sewell, NJ February 9, 2010 Dacor double electric wall oven So far, I replace the brain once, a door is cracked, it died again and repair is estimated at 900. Considering an average usage of 10 times a year, this 4000 oven is a miserable excuse of an appliance. Anyone considering Dacor..,RUN.... Ellen of Des Moines, IA February 3, 2010 My Dacor Wall over has had problems since the day it arrived with automatically shutting off in the middle of the cycle. I have had it serviced several times and no one seemed to know what was happening. I kept being told it was user error. Finally, I find out 4 years later that I have a bad relay circut board. Dacor refuses to acknowledge any issue with this part and will nto stand behind the repair. I will never, never buy Dacor again. Theie electronics are obviously bad. This reminds me very much of the Maytag circut board problems on the front loaders. In that case, Maytag stood behind the problem, even after warrenty. cost to fix was 532 Kathy of Philadelphia, PA January 29, 2010 I purchased a DACOR EPICURE kitchen suite,I actually built my new kitchen around it on Feb. 1, 2009: 1) Gas range (ER30G) 2) Dishwasher (ED24sch) 3) Convection microwave about 1 month later my dishwasher control was broken the diswhaher would just shut off leaving all the water on the bottom. 5 service calls later, even on christmas eve! it still does not work. as well as the oven, the control is bad. This oven is less than a year old, i have no intentions of waiting another year and 5 service calls. I think they have a bad product. The people at Dacor offered me an Electrolux replacement. My dishwasher was almost 2900.00 they want to replace it with a 1100.00 home depot item? My range was 4,300.00 and it does not work now for 3 weeks. Bad products, bad service. Carolyn of Vancouver, BC January 22, 2010 I purchased a Dacor stove in 1997 prince 5000.00 and had trouble with it from day one. Three times I had to replace the computer unit that controls the oven. Finally, a repairman said the placement of the fan was the problem and they ALL have this problem. Since the price of the new computer control was 1000.00 plus service fees, I finally just bought a new stove and it sits in my garage. I may use just the oven if the price of the computer unit ever comes down. These units should have been recalled! I literally paid for my stove twice...once for the 5000.00 cost and once again for the repairs every 3 years! And now needs the repair, but I am not throwing more money into it. Julie of Westminster, MA January 20, 2010 I purchased 3 Dacor Appliances from Percy's in Worcester in Nov 2003. Shortly after that I had my first repair call my dual fuel oven. The heat need to be recalibrated in the oven. Six years later, of course after the 5 year waranty expires I have 4 attempts at fixing the heating issues with my oven....now I am facing 1000 in repair costs on a 6 year old unit that cost 4000. It doesn't end there. I self cleaned my wall oven and blew a fuse...never in 25 years has this happened to me with any other kind of self clean oven. To top it all my microwave oven now has a handle that just cracked in half and the display panel that looks like a pac man game gone bad! When I asked if it was worth repairing... I was told to buy a Whirlpool! All the bells and whistles on my Dacor products seem to have gone bad at the same time! I think a luxury product line like Dacor should have a little more going for it than this. In dealing with the repair folks all I have heard is how difficult it is to get parts from Dacor. My one contact with customer service at Dacor was so disgusting (the person I spoke with was snobbish and unhelpful) that I really wouldn't want to try to contact them directly ever again. My experience with Dacor is one I would never want to repeat. I am seriously contemplating the purchase of a new stove to avoid any more costly repairs. It certainly won't be a Dacor.
