Lisa of Fredericksburg, VA October 23, 2009

Card issuer closed all consumer accounts suddenly. Company has NOT refunded annual fees paid, which I was told they would by Oct 2009. Account is listed as closed but they continue to charge accountholders "monthly maintenance fees" to increase the balance due & accumulate interest on. Credit score has dropped due to closure. Monthly fees are being added to a closed account, making the balance higher & interest charges increase.

Lee of Kissimmee, FL October 16, 2009

From what I understand, Tribute cancelled ALL of our cards...they've been 'bought out' by some Bank of Delaware, according to a CSR who refused to give her name. I tried yesterday to speak w/ a Supervisor, or someone or...anybody... regarding my account and the outrageous Maintenance Fees. Oh... true...there was no one to speak with. So, I sent an email. Their response was to request that I send them my Social Security Number, and other very private information. NOT! I should send confidential info to a company who is days from being extinct? How many people r there being laid off...r angry? Oh, so easy, to grab your INFO, and find a new income... by selling YOU...your whole Identity! These people are creepy. Call me paranoid, whatever. I think we should launch a website for all the people who have been massively punched by Tribute. I can provide the HOSTING...who can purchase the website..about 10.00 (ten dollars).

chris of vancouver, WA October 14, 2009

they cancelled all cards and have the nerve to not refund yealy account fee assesed and are still charging a 10 mint fee ANd raised intruste rates to max. so making a min pay wont even lower you bal. this is shifty at best. how can they not refund fee and still charge fee whne they runined all these ppl credit scores

Vickie of Gloucester, VA September 22, 2009

I have had a Mastercard with this company for a few years. Received new card effective 10/1/09 but have not activated. On the bill for Sept, they added a 75 fee for the coming year, which took it over the limit, added an over the limit fee and then closed the entire account including discontinuing the new card that I never activated. Had a 1000 limit to it. I paid it down to the 1000 but I want a credit of the 75, a credit of the overlimit fee. They also charge the consumer 10 a month and a 4.95 fee if you pay online, which always was rather seedy, but I tried to pay via my online billpay with my bank EXCEPT they kept changing their billing address so I paid online to them.

Gordon of Alexandria, VA July 10, 2009

They cancelled my card but are still charging me late fees and the total of the available credit on my card but I never reached that maximun amount on my card I used my card one time for a charge of 15.00 dollars I go to pay the minimum of 30.00 and they tell me I cant use the card anymore but they want me to pay the full available credit amount when I never charged that amount now they are charging me the full 750.00 credit limit plus late fees on a cancelled credit card now they say the total due on the balance is 1,871.52 cents what can I do do I have to pay for an amount that I never charged in the first place.Could you please give me some advice because I thought this card was supposed to get my credit back in order but it looks like It is going to damage it even furthur!

Robert of Kalamazoo, MI January 12, 2009

Up until recently in September, I had been keeping up on this credit card, paying more then the min each month. then I got greedy, sorry, and fell foul with ATM CASH and ATM machines giving out different credit available balances then what was actual on the monthly statement, or even on the website for the card. This lead to overlimits and eventually permenate closer of account which means, no credit available, and no credit limit 00.00 on monthly statements.

I continued to make my min or better payments until Jan 01 when I was unable to make the required payment demanded but did make a payment. Now I am getting phone calls 4 or more times day/night/week end including sundays. when I answer the call I get only "Card services, please hold," Then nothing while I wait for a human voice to speak. Often not even a "Card Services" announcement, but just hold please. there is no announcement has to who is calling. Three phone no's are associated to Tribute, 888-271-4332, 888-271-4331 and just this # showing up on Phone ID. 000-000-0000. More then 15 calls since 1-7-09. I know these phone # as belonging to Tribute's card services. another problem one I can't understand is that if my account is permenately closed, and all statements since september 08 state as such, even on website, why should I still be charged overlimit fee's of 35.00 and of this month 35.00 in addition as a late payment fee, even if my payment (webpayment) was on time if not the amount they wished.

Also my web site for tribute state diffferent amounts as the min. payment which is what I sent this month as it was the smaller amount, then what the mailed statement would ask. So for the last 4 months I have occurred overlimit fee's on a account that is closed because I was overlimit two months in a roll. then continued to be charged overlimit even if I paid the monthly min or better. And now another fee because I didn't sent all that they asked, as well as a purchase fee/interest for using the website for payment. At one point I was only 100 dollars overlimit, now it is doubled or more. My payment history was good for the nearly 3 years I had the account. Always paid on time, always paid more then what was required. The ATM problem was yes, one I shouldn't have stayed away from. But each time it said I had money to use, so I used it. and managed to pay it back each month. Eventualy it became a problem when the ATM machines I was using was saying I had money to use, while later the statements would say I didn't. At point I tried to explain this to them with a formal complaint but never got any answer to the problem. except to say they got my written complaint and would be in touch.

That was more then a year ago. this card was a starter card to build credit and I was good on it until recently and the trap ATM was putting me in. I have written them email to stop the phone calls, and asked why I was being charged fee's for a closed account as if it was an active account. Help.

Scott of Duluth, GA January 9, 2009

I had an account in perfect standing, never late, never a missed payment. An account rep called me and informed me that there would be new terms. My monthly service charge would increase from 6, to 10 a month. I refused the new terms, and politely asked them to cancel the card, and I stated that I would pay the balance owed.

Thinking that was the end of that, checking my credit scores a couple of months later I find that are posting a reposession with all three bureaus. Although my credit report shows no late or missed payments on this account, it is summed up with an unlawfull report of a reposession. I have called and called only to be promised a letter stating that this account was closed on good terms, and at my request. I have as yet seen no such letter. In my latest conversation with one of their representatives, she stated that the listing of reposession was final and would remain.

Due to this illegal posting, I have been turned down for other credit cards. I had another child and decided to move to a larger home, and was refused occupancy due to this posting causing a great deal of difficulty in finding a place for myself and family. I only became aware of this being on my credit report after applying for a mortgage, and of course being refused. It was alot of work just to find someone to rent to me with this severe of a listing, especially with it being so recent.

J. of Lewiston, ID July 1, 2008

I have horrid credit--my own doing; yes. I applied for and received this card. It was issued with an initial limit of 250-300.00. Most of this was used to pay various processing and other fees.

When I received the card, I believe I had an available balance of about 80.00. A year later, my balance about 265.00--about what the opening balance was (less aforementioned fees). I have made no headway at all in reducing the balance; I closed this account some time last Fall.

I am self-employed and do not earn a lot of money. This credit card was one of the first obligations to be cut--and from the looks of it, this will be an albatross around my neck for an indefinite period. Until the last month or six weeks, I made payments on time. unfortunately, I could only pay the minimum or a bit more. I'm seriously considering letting it go to collections, and agreeing to a pennies-on-the-dollar settlement. While I realize that my bad credit record is my responsibility, groceries and utilities take higher priority than paying a company who would take advantage of people who (for one reason or another) can get no other credit card.

Mindy of North Las Vegas, NV February 13, 2008

Tribute Gold Card has called my home up to 7 times in one day. My sister answered the phone as I was not home. She told them I was not home and was not sure what time I would return home the person on the other end began yelling at her saying, "You live with her and do not know when she will be home?" Then started laughing and hung up on her.

I have just been laid off from my job and have a newborn baby with no support. I am waiting on my tax return then plan on paying my bill but they have gone beyond harassment. I'm unsure if there is anything that can be done, but I am at my wits end with this company.
