Knology

Gracia of Knoxville, TN February 23, 2010

This is the worst internet company i can ever imagined. They charge very high, about 70 per month. And the internet they provide is highly unstable. For 1 week i was totally unable to have any access to internet in my apartment yet in return they only agree to refund me 3 for that. Their technician know nothing about internet because they cannot even tell what is a router and what is a modem. i and my roommate spent one afternoon to help them set up the network. Actually they did nothing except making a phone call to their company to activate our modem. It was us setting up all the correct cable and network connections.

In contrast, comcast only use several seconds to do that and we didn't need to do anything. On the other hand, Knology charged us 116 for setting up while comcast only 25. We weren't able to transfer comcast with us because Knology monopolize in our new apartment. i really want to know whether there's a way out of this. i like my new apartment so much yet the bad service of Knology almost spoiled that... And the address to pay their bill is really confusing and then i got my bill paid to the wrong address. The customer service didn't provide any useful help. It was my bank, who has nothing to do with all this mess, actually helped me out of this payment issue. i don't know how this filthy company can ever legally exist.

Had their service for 3+ years. Paid for high speed (7-10 megs guaranteed) bandwidth speed. I rarely received this level of service and have documented levels down to 600 (should be in 7000 - 10,000 range). This caused drop out problems and slow internt connections. I had many service calls and extended periods with no internet for my business. While on-site techs admitted there was a problem, management (Chris Caranza) claimed everything worked fine or "that's just the way it is".

Deborah of Saint Petersburg, FL December 24, 2009

I disconnected 5 days into the month of November, and only recieved a refund of 38.13. This is wrong. I mailed a request (Return Receit Requested) with all pertinent documentation enclosed, asking for a correct refund. I received a check in the amount of 38.13. The monthly charge is 90.50. 90.50 divided into 30 days equals 3.02 X the 25 days left remaining that I did not 'use' comes to 75.42.

When I connected with Knology, I paid one month in advance, so each month paid is always one month ahead of time. I paid the monthly amount (90.50) in September, and paid 186 on October 27th. I disconnected on November 5th. I am being ignored and denied all the funds due to me. In this economy, I cannot afford nor am I willing to accept this type of ill-treatment.

Cable installer were sub-contracted and not bonded. 5000 in jewelry was taken from our home. Insurance only paid 1000 on the theft! I have not paid a 79.00 balance because of the incident, and they have destroyed our credit rating!

Quillonda of Saint Petersburg, FL October 27, 2006

I transferred this service the same week that I moved and installation was to be on 10-3-2006?. I moved on October 20, 2006. I was offered a better service by another company. I cancelled Knology service. I was not receiving any service at all from them because it had not been in stalled, yet. I received a final bill, which I was billed for a whole month that I had not used My account had already been cancelled. The bill, also, used my deposit and showed a balance of 41+. I talked to customer service which advised me to pay the bill or receive a late fee, too. They said I would be refunded. I paid the bill. I have not received no communication or refund from Knology, yet. Please help me to receive my refund. I have a receipt that there equipment was returned. thank you.

The best way to describe this is to cc you what I sent to the BBB. In the past 4 years I've called Knology CS on the average of approximately 4 times per month. It has always been the same complaint. My Phone, Internet, and cable TV are completely out, not working, or not working properly. Which at that time, I am forced to contact Knology on my cell phone to make the complaint that the services I have been, and still am paying for are out!

They will schedule a technician to come out, and each one that has visited due to my complaints, states the same excuse, “Ma'am you are at the end of the line there is nothing we can do”.

What finally forced me to write the BBB for some type solution to this on going problem, last Friday, 4 Aug 06, I was running late to work picked up the phone to call and the phone was dead, so, I checked the internet to email my boss, it was out, I then turned on the TV, and all I saw was, SNOW. I finally got a hold of a Customer Representative where he made me an “emergency 24” hour appointment – Meaning that someone would have to be at the house incase the Tech stopped by during the middle of the day when my husband and myself were at work, this meant, in order for me to attempt to resolve this issue I would be forced to take leave and miss work in an attempt to get my services up and running properly. Services that have been paid in full which only works ½ of the time. I agreed under duress. For if no one were available at my home, no tech would be sent out to try and solve this on going problem which has never been fully resolved

No Technician came by Friday, - As of Saturday morn, 5 Aug 06 – NO TECHNITIANS arrived – On Sunday 6 Aug 06, No Technician, - NOTE: There was someone at the house at all times. On Monday I called and spoke with a "Supervisor named" Tiffany - she called the local Knology office and assured me that they would call either my cell phone or work phone that same day to resolve this on going issue.. As of 8 Aug I still had not received a call. I finally called Knology CS about 9 am, finally, a local knology employee named James called me around 11 AM and assured me that there would be a tech out to my house by 5PM so that they can resolve this issue. 8 Aug 06. At 7:30 – pm A Knology CS called to reschedule again...

Note: James stated that there had been someone there – but my dogs were a problem. Yes, I have dogs, but they are kept in the house, they only go outside when a family member is present. From what I gathered from James, they totally missed my house.

Due to Knology’s lack of total connectivity with the Telephone, “High Speed” Internet access, and Television, I am paying full price every month and only receiving ½ of the services that I have been promised/contracted for. And now, not only are we out almost 7,000.00 full payment for full service, I have lost a precious day of leave which was not scheduled nor can it be made up, suffered mental anguish for loosing work, and my internet business has suffered greatly as well.

They did make a 40 adjustment on last months bill... but this type of treatment is totally uncalled for. Although we have had some rain... the weather here is not a factor. There is no reason that I should have to pay full price for 1/2 of the service.
